Description of problem: In the current plan, the snap create syntax mandates the admin provides a name for the snapshot. Whilst having the ability to supply a name is great, it should not be mandated and should have a name created by default if one is not supplied. For example <volume_name>_YYYYddMM_hhMM Adopting this approach will mean snapshots by default get sensible names that allow admins and users to see the recovery point of the snapshot - which would benefit user based self service restore of files form snapshots. This was discussed on the gluster-devel mailing list, with the outcome being to raise the RFE - date April 9th, dev Rajesh Joseph Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: Additional info:
Feature requests make most sense against the 'mainline' release, there is no ETA for an implementation and requests might get forgotten when filed against a particular version.
This RFE will be tracked as a git hub issue https://github.com/gluster/glusterd2/issues/1284 and will be considered to fix in glusterd2
