Description of problem: On a Lenovo E540 modern laptop, the output of lsusb shows: Bus 003 Device 005: ID 138a:0011 Validity Sensors, Inc. VFS5011 Fingerprint Reader however fingerprint identification setup is not possible. Output of CLIU utilities report it finds no device: [root@lenovo ~]# fprintd-enroll louis list_devices failed: No devices available [root@lenovo ~]# fprintd-list louis No devices found Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): [root@lenovo ~]# rpm -qa | grep fprint libfprint-0.5.1-1.fc20.x86_64 fprintd-pam-0.5.1-1.fc20.x86_64 fprintd-0.5.1-1.fc20.x86_64 How reproducible: Boot up, fprintd fails on startup. As show above - service fprintd start 2. Wait a bit and then - service fprintd status 3. Also attempt to use the CLI tools and the Gnome User settings GUI tool.
