Usually a kernel/driver issue, but lets start with kde-plasma-nm

Comment 3 Kevin Kofler 2014-04-16 22:58:25 UTC
IMHO, this is clearly either a driver issue or an external problem (hardware issue, issue with the access point, interference, …).

Comment 4 Kiril Nesenko 2014-04-17 05:29:23 UTC
(In reply to Kevin Kofler from comment #3)
> IMHO, this is clearly either a driver issue or an external problem (hardware
> issue, issue with the access point, interference, …).

I don't think its a access point issue, since it happens always on all wireless access points.

I have the same basic issue. However, it doesn't always say it has disconnected, it just stops working. Hasn't worked properly since kernel 3.12.x. Currently using 3.14.2 on KDE and F20. Intel Corporation Wireless 7260 (rev 6b).

Comment 6 akerfonta 2014-05-02 19:27:01 UTC
FYI currently running 3.12.10-300.fc20.x86_64 and it works perfectly. Same access point, same setup.

Comment 7 akerfonta 2014-05-05 20:20:18 UTC
The suggestion here fixed the problem for me:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1087717

Comment 8 akerfonta 2014-06-17 01:38:00 UTC
Kernel and firmware updated today and unfixed it. Had to perform the same fix again. Surprise surprise...

Comment 9 Sammy 2014-06-30 23:21:15 UTC
Same problem with both kernels 3.14.9 and 3.15.2 (problem persists since I
got my Lenovo 440s with intel 7260N a month ago). After a while, specially
if wifi is not used for a while the connection stop working. NM thinks that
it is still active but the connection does not work. Tried all the firmwares
-7, -8, and -9.

This problem is widely reported on the web, including for Windows. I tried
all suggested solutions, turn HT mode off, turn blutooth off, disable powersave
mode to no avail. This is not a Fedora problem but it seems like a concerted
effort is needed to at least find a way to "mask" the problem.

Comment 11 Sammy 2014-07-21 23:19:45 UTC
Here is the iwlwifi crash messages in /var/log . Using kernel
3.15.6 and all packages updated (latest firmware).

Comment 12 carlos.rca185 2014-08-18 06:22:14 UTC
I also have this bug. It's very annoying.

Comment 13 carlos.rca185 2014-08-25 12:09:23 UTC
This bug has dissapeared for me since a few days

Comment 14 Sammy 2014-09-02 15:29:16 UTC
It is still there with 3.15.10-201 in F20. Very annoying. Perhaps the kernel
3.16 will have some improvements.

Comment 15 Sammy 2014-09-02 15:32:49 UTC
Intel has put out new firmware for 3.14+ kernels: 25.222.9.0....
hopefully it makes it into firmware package soon.

Comment 16 akerfonta 2014-09-16 16:33:36 UTC
Kernel just updated to 3.16.2-200 and the wireless interface disappeared altogether. If I boot any older kernel it works fine.

Please fix.

Comment 17 akerfonta 2014-09-22 16:52:52 UTC
Kernel updated and all seems well. Firmware package updated also and so far no problems.

Comment 18 Sammy 2014-09-22 16:56:36 UTC
But unfortunately the firmware update did not update to the latest 7260
firmware 25.222.9.0. Looking at the branches perhaps kernel 3.17 with the
latest firmware will solve the drop problem.

Comment 19 Sammy 2014-10-19 18:48:51 UTC
Kernel 3.16.6, latest firmware 25.222.9.0 kernel messages and dropped connections. Each CPU gets this message,

Comment 20 Fedora End Of Life 2015-05-29 11:35:56 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 20 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 20. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '20'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 20 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 21 Fedora End Of Life 2015-06-29 20:08:43 UTC
Fedora 20 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-06-23. Fedora 20 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
