Title: Virtualization Host CPU Requirements Our installation guide recommends to check whether kvm module is loaded on the RHEL host prior to adding the host to the manager. This check is incorrect and if this is a brand new host it will always return negative reply (no module loaded). This module is loaded with the installation of vdsm, during host registration to the manager. This test should be removed from the Installation Guide. On the other hand, it would be worth mentioning that visualization should be enabled on the BIOS and cold boot is required for those settings to take effect. Bios and CPU flags should be the two options needed to confirm that host matches the CPU requirements.
Hi Lucy, Would you be able to take a look at this one? It looks like we will need to make two changes: removing the aforementioned test, and adding a note that virtualization must be enabled in the BIOS and for the host to be cold booted after the change to make sure that change is applied. Kind regards, Andrew
In topic Virtualization Host CPU Requirements (7843), removed step on kvm module check, and added note re enabling Virtualization in the BIOS and cold booting host to apply changes.
