From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030728 Mozilla Firebird/0.6.1 Description of problem: System: RedHat AS 3.0 GM Hardware setup: DL380 with 2 qlogic FC2214 cards connected to a cascaded VA 7410 and VA 7100. Driver version shipped with RH: qla2300 v6.06b11 Prior installing the system, RH needs about 10 Minutes loading qla2300 driver ("Loading qla2300 driver ..."). RH does not seem to recognize any LUN's. Later, at boot time the system needs approx. 7-10 min. to start: "qla2x00_isr MBA_PORT_UPDATE ignored." or "Waiting for LIP to complete ...", there it hangs. Trying all varieties (un)plugging FC cables has no effect. HP's recommended driver version: qla2300 v6.06.50 Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install RH AS 3.0 GM on the system described above 2. Boot the system Expected Results: The system should boot immediately and realize the corresponding LUN's. SLES 8 SP2a ('Novell' Linux) on the same system causes no problems. Additional info:
can you attach dmesg and lspci ?
Created attachment 95903 [details] Output of dmesg while running 'modprobe qla2300' manually modprobe first seemed to hang the machine (probably during the resets), but recovered later (after about 5 minutes)
Created attachment 95904 [details] Output of 'lspci'
Created attachment 95905 [details] Output of 'lspci -v'
The kernel package "kernel-smp-2.4.21-4.17.EL.i686.rpm" resolved the problem, the LUN's are recognized and the driver does not hang the system. Works with no problems so far, therefore resolved.
Solution isn't in publically available kernel packages, so setting to RESOLVED/RAWHIDE.
This was fixed in RHEL3 U1.
