Description Moez Roy 2014-05-04 18:10:22 UTC
Document `/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.florence.gschema.xml' has the wrong type of root node (<schemalist>, should be <gconfschemafile>)

Comment 1 Christopher Meng 2014-05-13 00:51:40 UTC
This package contains erroneous scriptlets for old GConf2 system, now GNOME 3 has switched to GSettings, I've cleanup the package BuildRequires and relevant scriptlets and prepared an update of 0.6.1. Please help test it later.

Hello,

I'm the main uptream developer of Florence.
Christopher Meng made me aware of this bug, thank you for reporting it.
Documentation about dconf and GSettings is sparse but from what I have read here:
https://developer.gnome.org/gio/stable/GSettings.html, it looks like <schemalist> is the right root node.
I failed to find any documentation about <gconfschemafile>
Could you please give me more details?
Why do you think it is supposed to be <gconfschemafile> instead of <schemalist>?
How do I make GSettings to handle a <gconfschemafile> root node?
What is the specification of this node? Is there a DTD or XSD about it?
Could you please point me to the right documentation about <gconfschemafile>?

Hello François,

This seems to be just a downstream packaging mishap. The root node should definitely be <schemalist>, nothing wrong with this.

The error message from comment #1 is because of invoking gconf schema tools on the gsettings schema file, fallout from commit titled "nur" at http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/florence.git . After this commit, the downstream packaging ended up invoking gconf schema tools on the gsettings schema file.

Anyway, Christopher Meng seems to have fixed it all up properly so nothing more to look here.
