Pay attention to the lines that tell "isn't obsoleted", such as: django-typepad-0:1.2.1-3.fc20.noarch isn't obsoleted (django-typepad-1.2.1-3.fc20.src.rpm) In the update, you've decreased the Obsoletes tag even further: http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/python-django-typepadapp.git/commit/?id=d441e1df1a33edca1b45f0ad2bd470390fd6812d From 1.2.1-1 to 1.1.3-4, so more packages are not obsoleted. Correct would be to _increase_ the Obsoletes tag to at least: %global obs_ver 1.2.1-4 So %obs_ver would be higher than 1.2.1-3.fc20 and obsolete it.
