Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Doc Text:
Previously, a bug prevented Evolution Data Server from correctly processing shared mail folders on a Cyrus IMAP server. As a consequence, when it accessed a share message folder on a Cyrus IMAP server, Evolution could not display the messages the folder contained. This bug has been fixed and accessing shared mail folders on a Cyrus IMAP server with Evolution now functions as intended.

Description bugreports2005 2014-05-15 06:56:02 UTC
Description of problem:

Evolution does not work with shared mail folders on a Cyrus IMAP server

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

3.8.5-21.el7

How reproducible:

Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Acquire an account on and access to a shared folder in a Cyrus server
1. Configure the account into Evolution using Server Type: IMAP+
3. Open the subscribed shared folder

Actual results:

"There are no messages in this folder."

Expected results:

Display the list of messages in the pane, otherwise normal operation.

Additional info:

The same happens in RHEL6 with evolution 2.32.3 if using Server Type: IMAP+, but it has another Server Type: IMAP that works right. This is no longer available as of RHEL7 RC.

While this is not specific to RHEL, could you still please fix it to avoid severe regression? I'm adding a link to the upstream bugzilla that I think is relevant.

Thanks for a bug report. I tried evolution-data-server 3.8.5-23.2 and I see shared folders on cyrus (2.4.17) and dovecot (2.2.4), the same as content of the folders, while I'm able to select a message and see it there as well. Weird. Nonetheless, I can backport the upstream change and offer you a test build of evolution-data-server.

backported upstream patch

This is an evolution-data-server backported patch, from the upstream bug you found. I added it to a test package of evolution-data-server-3.8.5-23.el7.2.1. You can find it here:
https://people.gnome.org/~mcrha/rh1098036/

Give it some testing, please, as I wasn't able to reproduce the issue myself, and let me know whether it works for you. Thanks in advance.

Comment 4 bugreports2005 2014-05-20 09:20:14 UTC
Your backported patch does appear to fix my issue.

If you can't reproduce it, the Cyrus is probably having some non-default configuration. Looking at the upstream bug, comment #4 mentions the folder separator, which for me is '.' too. Perhaps that?

Comment 5 Milan Crha 2014-05-21 12:07:12 UTC
Maybe. In any case, good it works for you with the patch.
