A seemingly random number of reboots (usually <10) will "fix" the problem. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kernel-3.14.4-200.fc20.x86_64 How reproducible: Works intermittently. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot OS 2. Log in 3. Launch terminal 4. Play audio - I usually use mpg321 because it's quick Actual results: Last 3 lines of mpg321 output: Bitrate: 320 Kbits/s, Extension value: 0 Audio: 1:1 conversion, rate: 44100, encoding: signed 16 bit, channels: 2 Error opening unknown libao pulse driver. (Is device in use?) Expected results: Audio should play through speakers. Additional info: I've run through the instructions in https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_debug_sound_problems with no success. It does not appear to be pulseaudio-related. I've attached the output from alsa-info.sh
Quick update. The libao pulse driver error I mention in the initial submission of this report happens after I've been logged in for a few minutes. Behavior immediately after boot/login, is mpg321 just hangs when trying to play audio.

If you have moved on to Fedora 21, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 21. If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those.
Just confirmed this is still an issue on kernel 3.17.2-200.fc20.x86_64.

I've moved to Fedora 21, and a new motherboard in the laptop and the problem no longer exists. Not sure if it was hardware/firmware or kernel based and can't test any longer.
