Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Cause: Not optimal algorithm for mapping X11 keyboard layouts to console layouts. Consequence: it2 console keyboard layout after installation. Fix: Tweaked the algorithm (further details are again imho beyond the scope of errata docs for this BZ) Result: it console keyboard layout after system installation.

Description of problem:
When selecting 
-english language and 
- "Italian it" as keyboard layout 
for the minimal installation, and removing en as layout, 
after the installation completes and the system reboots,
the console use a "it2" keyboard layout

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install from a minimal DVD
2. choose Italian it keyboard layout, and remove english keyboard layout
3. reboot

Actual results:
# localectl status
   System Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8
       VC Keymap: it2
      X11 Layout: it

# cat /etc/vconsole.conf 
KEYMAP="it2"
FONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"

# cat /etc/default/grub 
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="vconsole.keymap=it2 rd.lvm.lv=rhel/root crashkernel=auto  rd.lvm.lv=rhel/swap vconsole.font=latarcyrheb-sun16 rhgb quiet"

Expected results:
Italian it keyboard as selected
