The description for the 'Create Volume Type' dialogue has been enhanced to make it clear that creating a type is equivalent to the 'cinder type-create' command. After the volume type is created, the user can then further define the type by adding extra specs.

Description Matt Reid 2014-06-13 19:33:01 UTC
Description of problem:
From the Create Volume Type dialog, I'm told "The volume type defines the characteristics of a volume. It usually maps to a set of capabilities of the storage back-end driver to be used for this volume. Examples: "Performance", "SSD", "Backup", etc."

Yet all I can actually do within the dialog is give it a name. If this functionality is only accessible through the CLI, it would be nice to mention that in the UI, and not hope they find that out through the Docs.

This is related to a RFE upstream.

Matthias, how is this different from the change for https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1046790? thanks, Summer

Comment 10 Matthias Runge 2015-01-12 07:43:34 UTC
Extra specs is a bit more than this here. The "type" of a volume is just a single field.

Comment 11 Summer Long 2015-01-12 23:13:02 UTC
Ok, thanks, was confused that the doc text for both bugs said the same thing and referenced the same blueprint. The change for this is just that the description for type creation was updated? Hope that's correct, cheers, Summer
