Description of problem:
looks like a regression since it use to work, see bug 855724.

[oVirt shell (connected)]# show statistic --host-identifier <host-id>
results: ===ERROR===  statistic identifier required.
fails for all objects (not just hosts), both id and object name.

Comment 1 Juan Hernández 2014-07-07 20:36:32 UTC
I think that you are missing the name of the statistic. Including that it works correctly for me:

[oVirt shell (connected)]# list hosts

id : f6be47b5-261e-4040-a3a8-e9b5ac68026e
name : node1

[oVirt shell (connected)]# list statistics --host-identifier node1

id : 7816602b-c05c-3db7-a4da-3769f7ad8896
name : memory.total
description: Total memory

id : b7499508-c1c3-32f0-8174-c1783e57bb08
name : memory.used
description: Used memory

...

[oVirt shell (connected)]# show statistic memory.total --host-identifier node1

id : 7816602b-c05c-3db7-a4da-3769f7ad8896
name : memory.total
description : Total memory
host-id : f6be47b5-261e-4040-a3a8-e9b5ac68026e
type : GAUGE
unit : BYTES
values-type : INTEGER
values-value-datum: 2099249152

Comment 2 Gilad Chaplik 2014-07-08 07:01:16 UTC
take a look at the orig bug, it used to work.

Comment 3 Juan Hernández 2014-07-08 09:44:05 UTC
The command in the original bug is wrong:

  show statistic --host-identifier puma32

It is missing the name of the statistic, should be:

  show statistic memory.total --host-identifier puma32
