jbaron submitted patch at BZ_111342 that appears to fix this.
The patch was submitted in BZ_111342 for AS2.1. This is just a placeholder to make sure the same patch makes it into an update for RHEL3.
A fix for this was committed to RHEL3 U2 last night in kernel version 2.4.21-9.2.EL.
