Description of problem: The first time I login to a freshly installed system, I launch the program to reconfigure X for 1600x1200. While the default display of 1024x768 is pretty safe for almost any adapter/monitor configuration, it is not the most useful or most used (by me anyway). It would be nice if this reconfiguration could be performed during firstboot rather than requiring that I login, make the change, logout, probably restart gdm, and log back in. Yes, I know I could do some of this with a kickstart install but that is not usually convenient. The launch of the configuration program should be optional rather than just bring it up every time. While I can individually set my screen resolution to lower values and have it apply immediately, I cannot set it to values larger than defined in /etc/X11/XF86Config.
Already added in cvs a week or so ago. It will be in Fedora Core 2.
