The Thunderbird Extended Support Releases (ESR) have now been merged into the mainstream releases.
The mainstream releases are now operating to similar standards as the Mozilla Firefox ESR - they are stable for approximately one year, before receiving feature updates.
Regardless, would appreciate an update for continued testing. Thanks!

The fedora 20 update builds fine with very minimal modifications to the spec file. Perhaps this could be pushed?

The following patch (2 single line fixes) seems to be all that's required for the current thunderbird to build on el7.
This is already built for EPEL7 http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=585731 .... appears that it was done on 2014-10-16
Looks like it just needs an entry in bodhi.
thunderbird-31.2.0-1.el7 has been submitted as an update for Fedora EPEL 7.
thunderbird-31.2.0-1.el7 has been pushed to the Fedora EPEL 7 stable repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report.
