RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Comment 2 Radek Novacek 2014-08-08 05:55:28 UTC
Do I understand it correctly that the customer wants _remote_ connection to libvirt to be supported in virt-who?

Comment 4 Radek Novacek 2014-10-01 13:14:46 UTC
Support for remote libvirt connections has been added to upstream repository:

https://git.fedorahosted.org/cgit/virt-who.git/commit/?id=bfc6385a0052eb5425951de21f894a3771032332

Comment 5 Radek Novacek 2014-10-14 12:17:46 UTC
This feature is present in the latest build: virt-who-0.11-2.el7.

Comment 7 Liushihui 2014-11-04 09:48:00 UTC
Check it on virt-who-0.11-2.el7. It still can't send the host/guest associate to SAM server when virt-who run at in remote libvirtd mode. Therefore, reopen it.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
subscription-manager-1.13.6-1.el7.x86_64
python-rhsm-1.13.6-1.el7.x86_64
virt-who-0.11-2.el7.noarch
katello-headpin-1.4.3.28-1.el6sam_splice.noarch
candlepin-0.9.6.5-1.el6sam.noarch

Reproduced process:
Make system has been registered to SAM server
1. Copy the ssh-key :
[root@hp-z220-06 ~]# ssh-keygen
[root@hp-z220-06 ~]# ssh-copy-id -i ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub 10.66.100.110
2. Configure virt-who run at remote libvirtd mode
VIRTWHO_LIBVIRT_OWNER=lshtest
VIRTWHO_LIBVIRT_ENV=library
VIRTWHO_LIBVIRT_SERVER=qemu+ssh://10.66.100.110/system
VIRTWHO_LIBVIRT_USERNAME=root
VIRTWHO_LIBVIRT_PASSWORD=
3. Restart virt-who and check the log as the following

Actual results:
Virt-who doesn't send the host to SAM server, virt-who should use hypervisorCheckIn instead of sendVirtGuests in remote libvirtd mode
