Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Some terminal error observed during the cursor jump or focusing time none

Description Satyabrata Maitra 2014-08-25 09:54:36 UTC
Description of problem:
The Input and use of backspace to delete character in any Indic locale is just horrible in evolution New Mail Compose section. It is behaving beyond any QA acceptance level.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
evolution-2.32.3.33.el6
evolution-dataserver-2.32.3.20.el6
evolution-exchange-2.32.3.16.el6
evolution-mapi-0.32.2-12.el6

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install RHEL6.6 (20140820.0 rel-eng tree) with bn_IN, hi_IN, or other Indic
   locales
2. Start evolution and Compose a New Mail
3. Select HTML from the format
4. Insert a table with min 2-3 number of rows and columns
5. Place the cursor in any cell of the table
6. Select Indic IME (bengali Itrans, hindi itrans for example) with CTRL+SPACE
key press (or in any other custom way you wish to launch IME)
(You need to first add these IMEs from IBUS input method Preferences.
7. For Bengali Itrans, Type Satyabrata and a space after that.
8. Now Press Backspace key to delete character typed just, one by one (One
backspace at a time), and do it 2-3 times
9. Watch the cursor movement carefully

10. Keep doing the same thing repeatedly couple of times.

Actual results:
After step 8, you will find the cursor in some other cell for once (Keep pressing Backspace), then cursor again come back to your cell where you typed, then again go back to some other cell.

After step 10 when you keep typing, you will find some preselected(highlighted) pretext already appeared. and its just not the proper Input or delete by backspace. Behaving pathetic.

Expected results:
Input should be proper, Delete with backspace should follow all the rule of using backspace with deletion. No pretext should appear automatically.

Additional info:
Screen shot will not work here, so, not attaching any screen shot.
