jef do you need any help on this? Getting friendly reminders from fellow Fedora users :)
I just had a look at updating and my remaining issues are: - why is patch 4 really needed? Don't see a reason for adjusting some docstrings. - where is ttconv coming from? Looks like a bundled library, but cannot find it anywhere... This is the only not removed library now over here locally.
(In reply to Thomas Spura from comment #5) > - why is patch 4 really needed? Don't see a reason for adjusting some > docstrings. I suspect it came from https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=608942
as for "ttconv": I think the code originally came from ppr project (http://ppr.trincoll.edu/) but converted to C++ with new comments and a lot of other changes.
Bump? Seems quite doable (except ttconv; I don't know where that's from either): https://github.com/QuLogic/rpmbuild-specs/commit/e893e153305d7c2133beecd9ffca6a581ffbafe9 https://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs/qulogic/backports/build/67468/
Also, interestingly: OPTIONAL BACKEND EXTENSIONS qt5agg: no [PyQt5 not found] gtk3agg: no [Requires pygobject to be installed.] gtk3cairo: no [Requires pygobject to be installed.] which is the case in koji, but the GTK3Cairo backend actually works on the installed copy. The Qt5 one is new; I haven't tried to set it up yet.
Current version in Fedora 22 is still python-matplotlib-1.3.1-7.fc22. Please consider updating to version 1.4.2 as soon as possible. Thanks!
Yep, an update is long overdue. If nobody else does it, I intend to do an update after dateutil-2.4 is mostly done.
Latest upstream release: 1.4.3 Current version/release in rawhide: 1.3.1-7.fc22 URL: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/matplotlib Please consult the package updates policy before you issue an update to a stable branch: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Updates_Policy More information about the service that created this bug can be found at: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Upstream_release_monitoring
1.4.3 with Qt5 (though it'd need some work for F20; I might not do this.): https://github.com/QuLogic/rpmbuild-specs/blob/master/SRPMS/python-matplotlib-1.4.3-2.fc21.src.rpm https://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs/qulogic/backports/build/78211/
PS, I've noticed that the Qt4 backend seems to import some code from the Qt5 backend, which I guess would need to be patched out if true independence was wanted. I did not do this in my copr.

Any hope for back port to F21 if this pkg passes QA? Sorry, I'm not sure where to find such policy rules documented.
I'd think so. It's mostly feature additions and bugfixes afaik, so should be suitable for F21.
Oh, that would be great! I want to try the new style feature, in particular.
