mate-volume-control just crashed on me and I submitted a bug with ABRT but the bug was market as duplicate of this bug. rpm -q mate-media mate-media-1.8.0-3.fc20.x86_64 so I do have the rpm that should have fixed it.
mate-media-1.8.0-3.fc20.x86_64 is latest version. Can you please attach backtrace file from the abrt folder? /var/tmp/abrt/<your_bug>/
And please can you describe exactly what you did with mate-volume-control?
and which soundcard?
(In reply to Wolfgang Ulbrich from comment #16) > mate-media-1.8.0-3.fc20.x86_64 is latest version. > Can you please attach backtrace file from the abrt folder? > /var/tmp/abrt/<your_bug>/ Sorry, I don't know how to attach the actual file so I'm pasting it here. Also, is there a way to automatically upload the entire /var/tmp/abrt/<my bug>/ directory? I'll be happy to do that. Here is the backtrace: [New LWP 1473] [New LWP 1476] [New LWP 1477] [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] Using host libthread_db library "/lib64/libthread_db.so.1". (In reply to Wolfgang Ulbrich from comment #17) > And please can you describe exactly what you did with mate-volume-control? I have an EasyCap usb framegrabber that uses tha usbtv driver under v4l. I normally grab images with it using tvtime like so: tvtime --dev=/dev/video0 Running tvtime 1.0.6. Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml Reading configuration from /home/silviu/.tvtime/tvtime.xml alsa: stream started from hw:1,0 to hw:0,0 (48000 Hz, buffer delay = 115.21 ms) videoinput: Can't get tuner info: Inappropriate ioctl for device videoinput: Can't get tuner info: Inappropriate ioctl for device videoinput: Can't mute card. Post a bug report with your videoinput: driver info to http://linuxtv.org/ videoinput: Include this error: 'Inappropriate ioctl for device' Note the "can't mute card" message. Normally I don't hear any sound from it, but with my current configuration there is a noticeably hissing sonud, so I tried to disable the camera sound altogether, using mate-volume-control. I think I was toggling the On/Analog Stereo Input under Hardware/Profile, for the USBTV007 device when the crash happened. I'd be happy to upload a snapshot of mate-volume-control showing what I was messing with at the time of the crash, but I don't know how.

We have an 'add attachment' button under the attachment section at bugzilla site. Did this issue occurs frequently ? Means is it reproducible?
Created attachment 999714 [details] screenshot of my devices and what I was doing. I was trying toggling the Usbtv sound device on/off, as it was making a fairly loud hiss. Turning the device off didn't stop the hiss. The mate-volume-control gui crashed that one time, but I can't replicate this now.
(In reply to Wolfgang Ulbrich from comment #22) > We have an 'add attachment' button under the attachment section at bugzilla > site. > Did this issue occurs frequently ? > Means is it reproducible? I can't replicate it, it only happened that one time. Turning the Usbtv device on/off doesn't stop the hiss, but I guess that's another issue.
