I had a free minute and wanted to setup a vm to play with Sat 6 beta. I built a new RHEL 6.5 vm (that is registered to our existing Satellite 5.6) and attached the ISO following the docs here: https://access.redhat.com/products/red-hat-satellite/beta Step 2 has a small link to the disconnected install: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Satellite/6.0/html/Installation_Guide/Installing_Red_Hat_Satellite_with_an_ISO_Image.html I imported the key, mounted the ISO on the loopback and ran the install_packages script. It pukes with a ton of errors about ruby193-ruby related rpm dependency errors like these: … Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-deface-0.7.2-7.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-rubygems Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-apipie-params-0.0.3-2.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-rubygem(activesupport) Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-strong_parameters-0.2.1-11.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-rubygem(railties) >= 3.0 Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-unf_ext-0.0.6-5.el6sat.x86_64 (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-rubygems Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-multi_json-1.8.2-4.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby(abi) = 1.9.1 Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-hooks-0.2.2-7.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby(abi) = 1.9.1 Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-foreigner-1.4.2-1.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-rubygem(activerecord) >= 3.0.0 Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-deep_cloneable-1.6.0-3.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby(rubygems) Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-strong_parameters-0.2.1-11.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby(abi) = 1.9.1 Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-commonjs-0.2.6-7.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-bootstrap-sass-3.0.3.0-1.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby(rubygems) Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-scoped_search-2.7.1-2.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-rubygems Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-little-plugger-1.1.3-16.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby(rubygems) Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-sprockets-rails-2.0.1-5.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby(abi) = 1.9.1 Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-angular-rails-templates-0.0.4-5.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-rubygem(railties) >= 3.1 Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-rbvmomi-1.6.0-3.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby >= 1.8.7 Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-faraday-0.8.8-2.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby(rubygems) Error while executing command: 'yum install -y katello' Thinking maybe it needed some other dependencies outside the rpm, I created a repo: [root@mty-sat6beta media]# cat /etc/yum.repos.d/SAT6media.repo [SAT6media] name=Satellite 6 baseurl=file:///media/ gpgcheck=0 enabled=1 I did a “yum clean all” and then I tried “yum install katello” and it puked with the same errors. For example: … Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-scoped_search-2.7.1-2.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-rubygems Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-little-plugger-1.1.3-16.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby(rubygems) Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-sprockets-rails-2.0.1-5.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby(abi) = 1.9.1 Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-angular-rails-templates-0.0.4-5.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-rubygem(railties) >= 3.1 Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-rbvmomi-1.6.0-3.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby >= 1.8.7 Error: Package: ruby193-rubygem-faraday-0.8.8-2.el6sat.noarch (SAT6media) Requires: ruby193-ruby(rubygems) You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest [root@mty-sat6beta media]# Since our lab is disconnected I would need to sync the RHSC channel to our Satellite, but its storage is running low on space (something we're currently working to get resolved). The other option is to download and extract 13 channel content discs ( https://rhn.redhat.com/rhn/software/channel/downloads/Download.do?cid=18952 ) to get the rpms that are needed. I'd like to have feedback passed to either resolve the dependency errors in the Satellite 6 ISO, or provide more documentation/kbase that identifies which rpms/versions are needed. It just seems odd to have to sync/subscribe to this whole other channel to install something that elsewhere proports to be a wholely independent, disconnected installation ISO.
