Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Downstream documentation page:
  https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Satellite/6.0/html/User_Guide/sect-Provisioning_Templates.html

Macros are listed in the linked wiki link above

Comment 6 Athene Chan 2014-09-18 23:27:44 UTC
Thanks Peter! I am assigning this to Megan Lewis for evaluation and action. This will more than likely be included for the next version's documentation changes. We'll update this ticket once we work on the request.

It looks like you are on a roll with reviewing the documentation. Thank you very much for sending in your feedback! We really appreciate it.

Cheers,
Athene

Moving 6.2 bugs out to sat-backlog.

Moving 6.2 bugs out to sat-backlog.

Comment 17 Peter Vreman 2016-08-29 08:15:11 UTC
After almost 2 years it is still working for 6.2.1. The URL is https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-satellite/version-6.2/provisioning-guide/#Configuring_Provisioning_Resources-Creating_Provisioning_Templates but it ends up at the top level Documentation overview of Sat6.2 "Products & ServicesProduct DocumentationRed Hat Satellite"

With all these changing documentation locations would it not be easier to use a Knowledge base article as a URL end point from the Satellite. And then the Knowledge base article can list the information or provide more detailed links.

Comment 19 Shimon Shtein 2016-10-13 13:58:08 UTC
Andrew, what is the correct URL here? I couldn't find it either.

Comment 20 Andrew Dahms 2016-10-24 00:19:41 UTC
Hi Shimon,

Thank you for the needinfo request.

I believe the following link provides the details required -

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-satellite/6.2/paged/host-configuration-guide/appendix-a-template-writing-reference

We'll schedule a full review of the links to the documentation in the branding as well to make sure everything is up to date.

Kind regards,

Andrew
