Thanks for a bug report. The assertion it stopped on was: > Error dispatching display: Daten\303\274bergabe unterbrochen (broken pipe) As this crashes in a wayland gtk+ backend, I move this to gtk+.
I can now reproduce this by crashing gnome-shell running under gnome-session-wayland-session.

That makes sense in this case, because any application running in the gnome-shell environment can crash (for various reasons) when the gnome-shell itself crashes.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 21 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 21.
