Description Xixi 2014-10-15 19:24:03 UTC
Officially document how to set up a self-subscribed Red Hat Satellite 5 server so it can register to itself and get updates, based on this kbase:

https://access.redhat.com/solutions/10952 "How to setup a self-subscribed Red Hat Satellite server?"

This is a common customer use case and the kbase was written/reviewed by cliff/taw a while ago, needs to be updated / re-validated for Satellite 5.6 and included in documentation as an officially supported configuration.

(Cloned from Satellite 6 Bug 1146946 - [RFE] Please document how to register the satellite to itself to get updates.)
