I am seeing exactly the same thing on my Sony Vaio running FC2 test 1 with the 2.6.2 kernel. The problem does not occur with the 2.6.1 kernel. I'm happy to provide more info if it would be useful.
firewire disabled in current kernels - so this is unlikely to occur again.
