indeed, I can reproduce on latest 'master'; once logged in, the VMs list properly shows the "No items to display" message. However, after navigating to a different location (e.g. the 'Basic' view, the 'Templates' side-section, etc.) and then going back to the VMs view - the loading animation is there indefinitely.
