OpenStack Networking deployments with distributed routers are now able to allow tenants to create their own networks with VLAN segmentation. Previously, distributed routers only supported tunnel networks, which may have hindered adoption as many deployments prefer to use VLAN tenant networks. As a result of this update, distributed routers are now able to service tunnel networks as well as VLAN networks.

Description RHOS Integration 2014-10-30 00:04:38 EDT
Cloned from launchpad blueprint https://blueprints.launchpad.net/neutron/+spec/neutron-ovs-dvr-vlan.

Description:

The distributed virtual router feature of neutron as made available in Juno as part of bp:
http://specs.openstack.org/openstack/neutron-specs/specs/juno/neutron-ovs-dvr.html

In Juno the VXLAN/GRE network type underlays were enabled to be supported as DVR Interfaces.

This blueprint will enable VLAN underlay support for DVR Interfaces. It will also enable DVR to route packets between a VLAN network and a VXLAN/GRE network bringing in parity with such capabilities that is already available in centralized router.
