Dear Fedora Developers, http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/test/21-Beta/Live/x86_64/Fedora-Live-Xfce-x86_64-21_Beta-4.iso Request for Enhancement: I do so love the Live CD's: use them for troubleshooting and installation of new systems. Problem: Fedora does not ship the screen saver with any screen savers. The Live CDs follow suite. Makes you think the stinker is broken. Causes a lot of consternation. And, makes you look a little stupid in front of the customer after bragging how well done Linux is. Would you please include the screen savers with the screen saver? Here is a article on the problem: http://laboinaroja.org/2014/01/28/how-to-install-screensavers-in-fedora-20/ The money part is: yum install xscreensaver-base xscreensaver-extras xscreensaver-extras-base xscreensaver-gl-base xscreensaver-gl-extras Many thanks, -T
Wrong package! Mate = !xfce PLease file out a report against xfce.
Created attachment 955139 [details] KDE Doesn't have any either http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/test/21-Beta/Live/x86_64/Fedora-Live-KDE-x86_64-21_Beta-4.iso Doesn't come with any screen savers either. And to add injury, "yum whatprovides" says these screen savers are in your repository. Please double check that the Live CD/DVD are not inheriting this problem from you.
Mate desktop has a screensaver installed by default from livecd !!!! Again, file out a report against xfce or kde.
Hi Wolfgang, Thank you for double checking! -T
Hi Wolfgang, I posted the bug over on Xfce: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11286#c1 They said it was your problem, not their's: "Wish we could help but this issue would actually have to be posted to the fedora bugzilla as we don't have any control over what they add to their LiveCDs." This may be why KDE's Live CD doesn't have it either. So I will be reopening the bug here, again. If this is actually not your problem, please give them specifics over on their bug report. Many thanks, -T
Right now we are over on space... our target is 700MB. There's no way we are going to add more screensavers until/unless we get more room. So, either we free up enough space or change our target to 1GB usb. I'll keep this open in case one of those happens.
(In reply to Kevin Fenzi from comment #6) > Right now we are over on space... our target is 700MB. So a 5 lb sack of flour in a 2 lb bag. I don't envy you. An idea: so as to let the user know he is either not crazy or the installer has not failed, can you add the smallest screensaver in so the user see it and knows he has to manually add more? Would love a USB version. Problem: I have only found about 1/2 the BIOSes out their will boot off them. They all seem to boot off my DOS 6.22 USB, which I use to upgraded BIOSes. And Supermicro's BIOS'es have to have their "Legacy USB" enabled to boot off a stick. Also, after enabling it, they halt booting if you leave a regular stick inserted. Some HP ink jets won't allow you to boot if you have Legacy enabled
This message is a reminder that Fedora 21 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 21. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '21'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 21 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 21 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-12-01. Fedora 21 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
