Description of problem: When a non-root user performs a netstat command, netstat produces the following error, irrespective of the fact that bluetooth has been disabled on the system: /sys/kernel/debug/bluetooth/l2cap: Permission denied In previous versions of netstat (F20) this error was not issued. In current versions of netstat (F21) there is no way for a non-root user to avoid this error. In F20 it didn't matter if bluetooth was enabled on the system or disabled, the error was not issued. In F21 the error is issued, regardless of how the system is configured with bluetooth turned on or off. It would be nice to have netstat be aware of the bluetooth settings so that this error is not issued every time that netstat is run as a non-root user. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): net-tools-2.0-0.28.20140707git.fc21.x86_64 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run netstat as non-root user 2. bluetooth errors result, regardless of whether or not bluetooth is enabled on system 3. Actual results: /sys/kernel/debug/bluetooth/l2cap: Permission denied Expected results: silence Additional info:
this error is screwing up exit codes.
