Created attachment 956426 [details] error in fullscreen mode preface: this may be somehwhat related to bug #1161096 If I open a RDP connection in fullscreen mode using remmina, the first thing you notice is that the toolbar on top does not work (as described in bug 1161096) Initially, you can however use the mouse to interact with your remote RDP client. Now if you use TAB to change to some other running gnome application (like the remmina main screen), it is shown as expected, but if you then change back to the RDP client, clicks on most things do not reach the client but instead the gnome desktop right click menu "settings | change background" appears, see screenshot. In the sample provided, the error occurs for example, when I click on the W7 "start" icon or if I click a link "Siehe Registerkarte Sicherheit" from the W7 Java Control Panel. In the current state, the fullscreen mode at least for RDP clients seems to be quite unuseable.
It's not just remote desktop clients, and not just RedHat that suffers from this problem. I have it happen with vinagre, mpv, and other apps as well, and on non-RedHat systems. Looks like an upstream gnome bug. Searching this looks like the issue as reported upstream by someone: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=738719
I've got the same problem. If I run remmina, connect via rdp and then I go to fullscreen I always reproduce the problem. I'm running: remmina-1.1.1-1.git.efb7b5f.fc21.x86_64 remmina-plugins-rdp-1.1.1-1.git.efb7b5f.fc21.x86_64 remmina-plugins-vnc-1.1.1-1.git.efb7b5f.fc21.x86_64 xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.16.2.901-1.fc21.x86_64 Fedora release 21 (Twenty One) 3.17.8-300.fc21.x86_64
using 'scaled mode' (ctrl_r+s) mitigate the problem cause it fills entire screen leaving only toolbar unoperational ctrl_r+f exit from full screen and solve the problem.
I can confirm that it is not only a remmina problema but can be reproduced width vinagre too. It could be a gnome3/gtk issue
same problem with virt-manager. and apparently also virt-viewer (bug #1158515). This one also seems to be related: bug #1161096
Assigning to gtk3.
there's nothing in this bug that implicates gtk
I've found in most cases that if I change my Window focus mode from mouse or sloppy, back to click that it seems to solve the click through strangeness in gnome shell. I would be curious if this helps other users.
(In reply to Kurt Bechstein from comment #8) > I've found in most cases that if I change my Window focus mode from mouse or > sloppy, back to click that it seems to solve the click through strangeness > in gnome shell. I would be curious if this helps other users. Oh, great finding! I can confirm that the problems with full-screen disappear when putting the window focus to "click". I always use sloppy or mouse, hence I did not try that before. It is a workaround but not a solution for me. Thanks - Michael
This message is a reminder that Fedora 21 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 21. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '21'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 21 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 21 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-12-01. Fedora 21 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
