With this update, when logging into the Administration Portal, the browser password setting is used so users do not need to re-enter their user name and password. Note: For Google Chrome, the Manager CA needs to be imported first. Use the following steps: 1. Open Chrome Settings > Show advanced settings > HTTPS/SSL > Manage certificates. 2. Click the Authorities tab and click import. 3. Select the Manager CA, click ok, and check all boxes in the Edit trust settings in the subsequent dialog. 4. Restart your browser and now Google Chrome will prompt you to save passwords.

Users expect the browser to propose to cache credentials, however, this functionality does not work when logging into the RHEV WebAdmin gui.

This is fixed as part of SSO work in 4.0, the browser setting for saving user name and password will be used for the login screen.

I managed to verify with Firefox 45 ESR (and newer) and IE11 in
rhevm-4.0.2-0.2.rc1.el7ev.noarch (build 4.0.1-1).

But Chromium 50/51 does not offer to save the credentials.
It works for other sites, such as access.redhat.com, but for Webadmin/User Portal it just does not work.

Ravi, can you please check what might be the problem?
Let me know if you need more info or RHVM environment to reproduce.

According to google, the chrome password manager does not work with sites that have certificate errors

Importing the Engine CA into chrome solves the issue and chrome prompts the user to save passwords. Doc text has been updated with instructions for chrome.

Verified in rhevm-4.0.2-0.2.rc1.el7ev.noarch.

Chromium 51 (*see comment 8)

Browsers now offer the user to save credentials for the SSO login page.
