Description Fabian Deutsch 2014-12-02 15:09:22 UTC
Description of problem:
To be prepared for occasional changes in 3.6 we need to increase the root partition size (and backup).

Comment 2 Fabian Deutsch 2014-12-03 16:34:29 UTC
Decimal Capacity Binary Capacity
4.70GB 4.38GB

The new size will be not bigger than a DVD can take.

Comment 3 Itamar Heim 2014-12-03 17:31:05 UTC
is this limited to 7.x (which is a new delivery and has no potential backward compatibility issues), or affects 6.x as well?

Comment 4 Julie 2014-12-03 22:24:08 UTC
Removing the release notes flag as it is not clear what needs to go into the release notes. Please flag again and provide a bit more context and answer my questions from comment1.

Kind regards,
Julie

It is a RHEV-H 7.0 only change.

Julie, the thing to note here is that the space requirement raises from roughly 2 GB (not sure what the official space requirement is these days), to roughly 10 GB.
But I am not sure how the disk requirements are currently specified (if they include swap, and the necessary free space for data or not ..)

Fabian,
I have cloned the bug for the Installation Guide and need_info you there. Please confirm what I have written is correct, and I also have a question there.

Many thanks,
Julie

Notice: with this change, node do not support rhevh 7.0 beta5(rhev-hypervisor7-7.0-20141119.0.iso) upgrade to rhevh 7.0 RC and rhevh 7.0 GA.

Test Version:
rhev-hypervisor7-7.0-20150114.0.iso
ovirt-node-3.2.1-4.el7.noarch

Test step:
1. TUI install rhev-hypervisor7-7.0-20150114.0.iso
2. Check the Root&RootBackup in Storage Volumes page
2. Check the Root and RootBackup size after installation

Test result:
1. After step2, the default Root & RootBackup size is 4300MB.
1. After step3, the output is as follows.
#parted -s -l
Number Start End Size File system Name Flags
 1 1049kB 256MB 255MB primary bios_grub
 2 256MB 4556MB 4300MB ext2 primary boot
 3 4556MB 8856MB 4300MB ext2 primary
 4 8856MB 21.5GB 12.6GB primary lvm

Test summary:
The Root and RootBackup size is changed to 4300MB now. So this issue is fixed in rhev-hypervisor7-7.0-20150114.0.iso now. Change the status from ON_QA to Verified.
