Thanks for a bug report. By any chance, do you run KDE with an oxygen-gtk theme? If you do, then this is bug #1161663.
I am not running KDE but the Mate/Compiz spin.
Thanks for the update. That would be interesting if the issue is not tight to the oxygen-gtk theme. Could you open System->Preferences->Look and Feel->Appearance, to see what theme you use, please? The default theme BlueMenta doesn't replicate the crash to me.
