Description of problem: Hello friends I am a Fc21 MATE + Compiz user and I have noted since Fc20 that Blueman is not supported now because of Bluez 5, also I have noted (and here the problem is here) that in other distributions like on Arch / Manjaro newer versions of Blueman now supports it; can you recompile it for Fedora 21? Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Package not avaliable on the Fedora 20 / 21 repos Expected results: See the package on Fedora 21 Additional info: this is not a good deal for your GTK2 spins
Same here. Only bluedevil support now and it's depends on KDE's lib.
There have been a number of patches in the last couple of days to make blueman work with Fedora. I've been using the heikoada-blueman-git repo which tracks the upstream projects GIT repo, [heikoada-blueman-git] name=Copr repo for blueman-git owned by heikoada baseurl=https://copr-be.cloud.fedoraproject.org/results/heikoada/blueman-git/fedora-$releasever-$basearch/ skip_if_unavailable=True gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=https://copr-be.cloud.fedoraproject.org/results/heikoada/blueman-git/pubkey.gpg enabled=1 As of this morning blueman seems to be working on Fedora 21. Please consider moving blueman into the main Fedora repos. And thanks to Christopher Schramm of the blueman project for fixing the bugs that were preventing blueman from working with Fedora.
It seems as of Fedora 22 bluedevil will no longer work outside of KDE, so without this it would seem Xfce, MATE, etc. are left without a bluetooth applet. The blueman package in COPR appears to work with Xfce on Fedora 22. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1215338
The Blueman alpha continues to function fine on Fedora 21, be nice if were moved into a mainstream Fedora repo. Is there an owner for this package?
I would like to add my backing to add Blueman to the Fedora repositories. I am currently using it with F22 MATE-Compiz 64-bit spin. It works perfectly well so please make it an official package. There are no other working GUI alternatives in the repositories for F22.
I am also voting for this package. This application will be _very_ useful in XFCE, which does not have it's own solution for bluetooth.
We just release version 2.0 today, so blueman is stable again. :)
Bluetooth is these last years the "poor parents" of Linux environment. As if some developers were paid by "the Devil" (let's the reader exercise his discernment!) or the Telecom providers, to sabotage any attempt to provide useful utilities as in "nokia suite" , or any other mobile application so easily available in Windows or MacOSX environment. By changing bluez API, and the functionality flip/flop between the ones provided by bluez and the ones provided by pulseaudio, all the few application working previously to provide such functionality are dead! * Linux HFP to transform Linux OS in "HFP radio car like": no more compilable * chan_mobile to use a simple mobile, as GSM <-> SIP gateway in asterisk: not working (Signalisation SIP working but the RTP flow is not routed between GSM network, and SIP network: how could it be whithout even HFP working? But the last and not the least, with the last version of bluedevil, we just get regression!!!! ============== The situation: ============== I'm currently using Fed 22 with MATE spin, with PLAMSA environment added, because I need many KDE tools in my daily environment. So ligthdm is the display manager, and at login step I can switch easily from MATE to PLAMSA Desktop environment. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ In PLASMA only environment you get bluedevil applet, as long as blutooth service is running, because there is no more bluedevil-monolitic usable in other desktop environment +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++= But even in PLASMA environment ===============================, YOU CANNOT HAVE ANY EXTRA FUNCTIONALITY removed from bludevil-5.3 !!!! ======================================================================= ==> No applet to manage (accept/refuse) Bluetooth random connection ID, when the phone is the initiator of the connection , for example when you ask from your phone to use the PC as audio sink, or HEADSET voice gateway !!!! Very SAD! When just pulseaudio 6 was now providing free handset functionality, as described there: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Notes/6.0/ which has been removed from bluez5 as described here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bluetooth_headset ================= All the functionalities of bluedevil-5.3 are also usable from MATE or GNOME Desktop, as long as PLASMA minimal environment is installed, with the installation of KDE tools and KDE Multimedia application and bluedevil But NOT in a user friendly way !!!!!! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++== example from MATE: ==> menu: system -> Control Center -> KDE Configuration -> Bluetooth then you can SCAN, ADD, CONNECT to bluetooth device. When you ask connection to your phone, you have an applet showing on PC the random IDENTIFIER, also visible on the phone. You have to accept on both side, and must validate on the phone automatic connection without identification for later connection, as you can do the same thing under PLASMA! You can also add two launcher on MATE panel, with : ==> 1) bluedevil-wizard, just to manage scanning and ask further connection on your bluetooth peripheral ==> 2) bluedevil-sendfile, to push files via bluetooth from your PC to the phone (this could be done also by bluetooth-sendto; bluetooth-wizard has been removed from gnome-bluetooth because it was never functional: on my Fed 20 , it was detecting nothing, while bluedevil-wizard is actually functional! ) ==================================================== ==================================================== FORTUNATELY Blueman 2.0 RCandidate is there: In the next comment my experimentation with this software.
As mike Simms suggested to me in: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1217886 I just installed blueman as in the link above with the rc1 candidate release, and now I find again ALL the functionality provided by old version of bluedevil with: bluedevil-monolithic. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ So the lacking functionality in bluedevil Plasma applet is there: WE CAN ASK THE CONNECTION AGAIN FROM THE MOBILE PHONE: a popup appear on PC Desktop to validate the 6 digit code sent by the phone. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I hope it will be soon a standard package of Fedora 22, or at least in rpmfusion repository! Thanks for all the job done by The maintainer of Blueman. It will be helpful for other people using blue tooth. I hope too, that bluez API will remain stable or at least compatible with current bluez5 API many years, in oder that other developper can see their hard work used by many peoples. ======================= What's the interest of a wonderful API, if there is no APPLICATION around, except a self satisfaction for the developers!!!!
