Description of problem: No battery information on panel Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xfce4-power-manager-1.4.1-3.fc21.x86_64 How reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1. Login 2. See no battery info 3. Actual results: Expected results: Indication of battery charge status Additional info: Lenovo Thinkpad T530. Fedup'd from f20 to f21, plus a couple of "yum update" runs. Running "xfce4-power-manager --no-daemon" tells me a power-manager is already running.
Just making sure - Do you have the power-manager plugin added the panel?
There is no icon on the panel that seems power-related. There used to be (probably back on f20). And I can find no way to add it back.
I do get a popup notification for "battery fully charged".
Hi Jeremy, the xfce4-power-manager 1.3.x+ versions have replaced the older battery icon with power-manager plugin (attached screenshot) - that's what I am checking if you added to the panel.
Created attachment 970353 [details] power manager plugin highlighted
Created attachment 970477 [details] panel items selector window There is no power-manager item visible in the panel settings manager
Thank you. Do you see it in the list when you try to add the power manager plugin? (+ symbol onwards ...) Can you please post the output of rpm -ql xfce4-power-manager I am looking to see if this file is installed - /usr/share/xfce4/panel/plugins/power-manager-plugin.desktop
Created attachment 971923 [details] rpm -ql xfce4-power-manager >rpm_ql.txt Yes, it was addable that way. Thanks. The bug reduces to "why did it (allegedly) disappear, and was it due to the fedup operation?" - and backtracking to work out how it happened might be too much effort unless someone else reports the same. The plugin does seem to be installed, according to rpm.

Yeahhh .... I think I know why. The battery icon disappeared because of a change in xfce4-power-manager. The older panel plugin has now been changed to be called "power manager plugin". You should be able to add the plugin to the panel like any other plugin. But, what you bring up is a very valid point. We should have it "enabled" on the panel by default like before. I will look into that. Just to be sure - are you able to add the plugin back to the panel and is it functional as you would expect it to be?
Yes, and at least while plugged-in to the mains it's as expected. I've not explored the battery-powered behaviour yet but have no reason to expected it to be broken.
I am closing this bug since battery gadget missing issue is resolved.
