Description Vasyl Kaigorodov 2014-12-18 10:53:09 UTC
Description of problem:
With ecryptfs you have some directory, usually ~/.Private and it contains encrypted data.
When you log in, it is automatically mounted decrypted as ~/Private

It is done by pam open session.

It counts how many times are you logged in.

When you log out, it decrements the counter and with last log out, it
umounts that directory (data are available encrypted only after this point).

The reason appears to be that systemd keeps another PAM session around for
running its (sd-pam) and systemd --user processes, causing ecryptfs-umount-private to think one session is still remaining. This means we have to run
ecryptfs-umount-private before exiting the systemd --user session.

A systemd unit that might fix this can be found in the original bug [1].
Also I see similar Red Hat BZ [2], which might or might not be related to the same root cause as this one.
