Description GP 2014-12-28 21:49:07 UTC
Description of problem:

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
libreoffice-writer-4.3.2.2-5.fc21.x86_64.rpm

How reproducible:
Happens in Fedora 21, used to happen in Fedora 20 too. The bug does not happen with the official LibreOffice Fresh packages found at https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open LibreOffice Writer
2. Tools > AutoCorrect Options...
3. Take a look at the Replace list.

Actual results:
The Replace list is empty.

Expected results:
The Replace list should be filled with AutoCorrect replacements.

Additional info:
I removed the pre-installed LibreOffice packages from my Fedora installation and instead installed LibreOffice Fresh. Everything works and the AutoCorrection Replace list is filled for all languages.

Comment 1 Caolan McNamara 2015-01-06 09:32:12 UTC
They are packaged seperately, e.g. autocorr-fr, autocorr-de, autocorr-en. You always get autocorr-en and if you install a langapack for a given language then you get the matching autocorr-FOO for that language (if there is one)

Comment 2 GP 2015-01-06 14:52:23 UTC
Woah, too fast Caolan McNamara! Did I forget to mention that autocorr-fr and autocorr-en where installed, yet the Replace list was still not populated with the AutoCorrect replacements?

hmm, indeed. The system autocorr files aren't being detected.

Could you backport this to F20? Looks like I'm experiencing the same bug there. Thanks!

Actually, the bug is still present on F21 with 4.3.5.2-11.fc21 (I have two machines like that). autocorr-fr is installed, and yet the auto correction list is empty. Any ideas?

Bonjour Milan,

I don't guarantee you anything, but I once had to delete the ~/.config/libreoffice directory on my computer in order to refresh the AutoCorrect Replace list. I suggest you to do the following:

1. Close LibreOffice.
2. Copy the ~/.config/libreoffice directory somewhere else.
3. Delete the ~/.config/libreoffice directory.
4. Open LibreOffice Writer.
5. Check the AutoCorrect Replace list.

Enjoy your day.

Comment 16 Milan Bouchet-Valat 2015-01-29 09:06:51 UTC
Indeed, good tip! More precisely, the problem goes away if I (re)move ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/autocorr/acor_fr-FR.dat. This file is empty, but apparently its presence is enough to prevent LO from loading the system list of auto corrections. That's quite bad for the people upgrading from the previous version...

Maybe LO could ignore that file if empty, or even remove it?

Comment 17 Milan Bouchet-Valat 2015-01-29 21:09:39 UTC
Don't you think this could be reported upstream? Many users won't figure out that they need to remove that file...
