Description Michael Burman 2014-12-31 15:23:31 UTC
Description of problem:
[RFE] Sealing Linux VM should be automatically done when creating template from VM or Option to configure Sealing via GUI when creating template.

Today this is done manually.
http://wiki.ovirt.org/Sealing_Linux_VM

VM template is used in oVirt to later create VMs with identical images and configuration as the template.
Creating identical images and configuration does not mean that we want to keep some information that is guest specific, like the VM MAC addresses.
For Handling the above we have the process of sysprep, For Linux guests we don't have such process in place yet so we need to seal the template manually.

Although simple, this is a time consuming process once repeated many times, and should be done automatically instead.
The desired behavior is for an Admin to create a new VM, then shut it down and simply click "Make Template." Make Template functionality should then clone it into a template and use sysprep/virt-prep process to seal the VM for them, with no human intervention required.
Or to add option to do it via GUI when creating template.
