Comment 2 Kevin Alon Goldblatt 2015-04-30 15:08:28 UTC
Checked with versio:
v3.6
ovirt-engine-3.6.0-0.0.master.20150412172306.git55ba764.el6.noarch
vdsm-4.17.0-632.git19a83a2.el7.x86_64

1.Checked with the following scenario:
2.Created a storage domain on a DC with 3.4 Compatability version
3.Move the domain to maintenace
4.Detached the domain
5.Removed the domain (unchecked the Format option)
6.Imported the domain to a DC with 3.6 Compatability version
7.The following message appears in the events log:
"The Storage Domain does not contain any OVF_STORE disks. Usually the Storage Domain does not contain OVF_STORE disks when the Storage Domain has been previously managed with a Data Center version lower then 3.5."

This message does not inform the user what the consequences of importing a domain with the compatibility version of 3.4 or lower. A more informative message is required like:
This Data center compatibility version does not support importing a data domain with its entities(VM's and Templates). The imported domain will be imported without them.

Comment 8 Nicolas Ecarnot 2016-03-11 12:26:16 UTC
Hi,

Presently owning 4 DC in 3.5.z with 3.5 DC level, I just installed a 5th one in 3.6.3 in which I created a brand new storage domain.

I'm planning to use the storage domain migration feature to import the SD from the 4 older DC into the new 3.6 one.
When first adding a brand new iSCSI SD in my new 3.6 DC, I got the message this BZ is about, and this is worrying me because if I read it as is, it leads me to think I won't be able to import 3.5 SDs. (Which I find weird as this feature comes from 3.5.z, and that 3.6.z DC obviously supports it).

May someone reassure me?
