I was having issues with a guest's display, so I decided to change the video type to something else to see if the guest video driver was the source of the problem (just for background, the host is F21, guest is rawhide; everything on the display beyond 1024x768 is blacked out; the same thing does *not* happen for an otherwise identical F21 guest). When I tried to change video type in virt-manager, I received this error: Error changing VM configuration: XML error: vgamem attribute only supported for type of qxl So apparently virt-manager is attempting to change just the type, but leave in an attribute that causes an error for any other type of video.
it was fixed upstream by this commit: commit 51e5a471202a67e3c9c1dd53c0afc333d77933c9 Author: Giuseppe Scrivano <gscrivan> Date: Mon Dec 1 15:56:29 2014 +0100 virt-manager: reset vgamem for video when changing device type Closes: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1169295 Signed-off-by: Giuseppe Scrivano <gscrivan>
