Description Raman Gupta 2015-01-17 07:20:48 UTC
Description of problem:

The sddm display manager is configured by default with the fedora theme. On my triple-monitor setup, this theme does not position the username/password dialog boxes on-screen.

My monitor setup looks something like:

                       ,''''''''''''''''''''''''|
                       | |
        |''''''''''''''| ,'''''''''''''''|
        | | | |
        | | | |
        | | | |
        '''''''''''''''| '`''''''''''''''
                       | |
                       |........................'

The left (DVI-0) and right (DisplayPort-0) monitors are 1680x1050, and the middle (primary, DisplayPort-1) monitor is 2560x1440.

The relevant xrandr output is:

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 5920 x 1440, maximum 16384 x 16384
DisplayPort-1 connected primary 2560x1440+1680+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 597mm x 336mm
DisplayPort-0 connected 1680x1050+4240+195 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 433mm x 270mm
DVI-0 connected 1680x1050+0+195 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 433mm x 270mm

With this setup, the unaltered Fedora theme barely shows the host name on the right monitor, just above the bottom edge. The username/password are off the bottom edge, probably because the height is being calculated based on the maximum height (the main monitor) rather than the height and position of the actual monitor on which the username/password are showing.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

I also note that the default sddm themes do not have this problem, probably because they seem to stick to displaying the login somewhere around the center of the main monitor.
