Another user experienced a similar problem:

I was attempting to install a new printer (specifically, the Epson XP-410) through the GNOME printer settings. I was prompted by PackageKit to install the drivers. I clicked "install" and then PackageKit crashed.

ran "run yum" from the start button. Then it failed

Had to run "yum update all" from the command line.

Another user experienced a similar problem:

Error occurs when I tring to install http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/5/x86_64/epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm and http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/5/x86_64/kyum-0.7.5-10.el5.x86_64.rpm with Apper program. Apper cannot install them and crashed later. Crash can have caused by automatic updates.
