Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Ricardo Santamaria 2015-01-24 22:49:17 UTC
Foreman-debug should extact contents into new directory like how sosreport or spacewalk-debug do. Each time accidently extract in working directory causes file pile up.

Comment 1 RHEL Program Management 2015-01-24 22:53:26 UTC
Since this issue was entered in Red Hat Bugzilla, the release flag has been
set to ? to ensure that it is properly evaluated for this release.

Comment 3 Athene Chan 2015-02-13 00:47:34 UTC
I think this is a feature request and not a documentation request. Can you confirm, Ricardo?

Comment 4 Ricardo Santamaria 2015-03-02 19:15:26 UTC
Athene, yes. I believe you are correct. This should be an RFE.

Comment 5 Xixi 2015-03-02 19:19:41 UTC
(moving out of docs since this is an issue with foreman-debug tool itself)

Comment 7 Bryan Kearney 2015-03-03 18:09:46 UTC
the goal here is for the foreman-debug tarball to have a single root directory.

Comment 12 Stephen Benjamin 2015-04-29 16:18:25 UTC
Would like this for 6.1: easy win, 1 little CP for lots less frustration :-)

Comment 15 Tazim Kolhar 2015-05-08 08:41:20 UTC
hi

please provide verification steps

thanks

Comment 16 Stephen Benjamin 2015-05-08 10:04:37 UTC
1. Run foreman-debug
2. tar xfv the resulting debug
3. Confirm it creates a single directory (foreman-debug-XXXXX) and stores everything in there
