Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because
the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.
Description of problem:
I the file:
/etc/logrotate.d/radiusd
an old "/sbin/service/radiusd reload" script call still exists (line 14).
Change to:
/usr/bin/systemctl reload radiusd
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
freeradius-3.0.4-4.el7
How reproducible:
always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
Actual results:
Expected results:
Additional info:
This also seems to cause an error during log rotation, and so produces an email message sent to root:
=======
Subject: Anacron job 'cron.daily' on cent-4-082
/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:
Redirecting to /bin/systemctl reload radiusd.service
Job for radiusd.service invalid.
error: error running non-shared postrotate script for /var/log/radius/radius.log of '/var/log/radius/radius.log '
======
The log files do, however, seem to have been rotated and with correct permissions etc.
Every month, error message from cron daemon is sent because of line in /etc/logrotate.d/radiusd:
/sbin/service radiusd reload
This line should be:
/usr/bin/systemctl reload radiusd
The error message is sent by e-mail and contains this two lines:
/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:
Redirecting to /bin/systemctl reload radiusd.service
It seems like previous fix was not correct.
I have freeradius-3.0.4-6.el7.x86_64 (fully up-to-date RHEL7).
Hi Nikolai,
it seems to be fix in freeradius-3.0.12-1.el7_3, but there is incorrect path /bin/systemctl. Correct path, in rhel-7, is /usr/bin/systemctl.
# rpm -q freeradius
freeradius-3.0.12-1.el7_3.x86_64
# grep systemctl /etc/logrotate.d/radiusd
/bin/systemctl reload radiusd
It works, but it would be nice to have it fixed properly :-).

Thanks, Jaroslav! I'll fix this in the next build.
Hello Nikolai,
I'm sorry if this is the wrong place. I noticed that the log rotate is not proper yet for the latest packages for CentOS 7.x
Will your fixes be pushed there or do I need to contact someone else?
Thank you,
David

Hello David,
I assume that since we haven't released the fixed package yet (i.e. it is not available in RHEL), CentOS cannot update their own. However, I'd check with CentOS support to be sure.
