Description Satoru SATOH 2015-02-01 16:09:44 UTC
Description of problem:

Satellite Proxy 5.7 Installation Guide says that the satellite proxy channel
(redhat-rhn-proxy-5.7-server-x86_64-6) is required and proxy servers have to
subscribe to that channel in the following section:

3.5. Installing the Red Hat Satellite Proxy Server Packages
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Satellite/5.7/html/Proxy_Installation_Guide/sect-Red_Hat_Satellite-Proxy_Installation_Guide-Red_Hat_Satellite_Proxy_Server_Installation_Process.html

However, I guess that satellite proxy servers do not need to subscribe it
because spacewalk-proxy-installer (proxy installer) is fond in RHN Tools channel
, not satellite proxy channel, and satellite proxy channel is not required
before satellite proxy installation.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
satellite proxy 5.7

I might have to check on this. Last I remember testing this out, I needed the proxy channel or else the installation failed (although my memory is a little hazy). I'll do another test this week and see if I can install without the proxy channel.

Yep, confirmed. And it reports an error:

Error Class Code: 73
Error Class Info: Satellite or Proxy channel can not be subscribed.
