Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Granular filtering message

Description of problem:
Administer > Roles > Add permission from the split button: Takes you to New Filter (not a title I was expecting), where you can set a permission. The string "Selected resource type does not support granular filtering, therefore you can't configure granularity" confuses me, I'm not sure what it means by granularity, or which resource types would support that.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
6.0.7

How reproducible:
N/A

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Navigate to Administer > Roles
2. Next to the Role, from the drop down button choose Add permission
3. Confusing message appears at bootom of screen

Actual results:
Confusing message about granular filtering is displayed.

Expected results:
No confusing message about granular filtering.

Additional info:
Screen shot attached.

Created redmine issue http://projects.theforeman.org/issues/9446 from this bug

Comment 4 Bryan Kearney 2015-08-25 18:33:39 UTC
Upstream bug component is Users & Roles

Comment 6 Ohad Levy 2016-02-22 10:46:59 UTC
Corey - I believe just a string change. quoting Dominic from upstream issue:

"Perhaps the message could just be removed, and have the search box only appear when possible."

Comment 7 Bryan Kearney 2016-07-08 20:31:17 UTC
Per 6.3 planning, moving out non acked bugs to the backlog

Comment 9 Bryan Kearney 2017-01-06 19:29:08 UTC
This is an older bug which has been reported upstream. We are not going to track this bug downstream. When the upstream issue is resolved, the next build will contain the fix. Thank you.
