Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because
the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.
Description of problem:
There are a few typos and grammar improvements that can be made in the rct man page. See the comments that follow for each.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
[root@jsefler-os7 ~]# rpm -q subscription-manager
subscription-manager-1.13.19-1.el7.x86_64
[root@jsefler-os7 ~]# man rct | grep "certficate"
The most information is contained in the entitlement certficate. Along
"certficate" is a typo; should be "certificate"
[root@jsefler-os7 ~]# man rct | grep filesystem
* Path -- the filesystem location where the certificate is
"filesystem" is not yet a word; "file system" would be a better choice.
[root@jsefler-os7 ~]# man rct | head -1
rct(8) System Manager's Manual rct(8)
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
It would be nicer to change "System" to "Subscription"
commit a7a358714b66faf1ba2031f2e9918e1078756efa
Author: Chris Rog <crog>
Date: Thu Apr 9 10:03:09 2015 -0400
1193991: Fixed typos and header for RCT man page.
- Changed the man page header to read "RHSM Certification Tool"
- Fixed misspelling of "certificate"
- Left usage of the term "filesystem," as this term is preferred
by the man page style guide.
[root@dhcp35-106 ~]# subscription-manager version
server type: Red Hat Subscription Management
subscription management server: 2.0.5-1
subscription management rules: 5.16
subscription-manager: 1.15.6-1.el7
python-rhsm: 1.15.3-1.el7
misspelling of "certificate" is corrected, but I see header as
" RHSM Certificate Tool" but I believe it should be "RHSM Certification Tool" as per https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1193991#c5
[root@dhcp35-106 ~]# man rct | grep "certficate"
[root@dhcp35-106 ~]# man rct | head -1
RCT(8) RHSM Certificate Tool RCT(8)
[root@dhcp35-106 ~]#
Whoops.
The correct expansion of the rct acronym is RSHM Certificate Tool. The use of "certification" is a mistake in my commit message. Fortunately, it seems to be correct in the manual.
