RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Red Hat Product Errata RHBA-2015:1345 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE subscription-manager and python-rhsm bug fix and enhancement update 2015-07-20 17:59:53 UTC

Description John Sefler 2015-03-11 17:58:30 UTC
Description of problem:

[root@jsefler-os6 ~]# subscription-manager subscribe --pool=123 --servicelevel=foo
Error: Servicelevel is unused with --pool

This is a poor error message. What does it mean? I'm confident that it will be butchered in translation to other languages.

Formerly the error message thrown was:
Error: Must use --auto with --servicelevel.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
[root@jsefler-os6 ~]# rpm -q subscription-manager
subscription-manager-1.14.1-1.el6.x86_64
This new string was introduced with commit cb590a75f3a2de921961808d00ab251180c51691

Additional info:

Former subscription-manager versions threw the following error...
[root@jsefler-7 ~]# rpm -q subscription-manager
subscription-manager-1.13.9-1.el7.x86_64
[root@jsefler-7 ~]# subscription-manager subscribe --pool=123 --servicelevel=foo
Error: Must use --auto with --servicelevel.

commit bb6424e5cac93bfd3dfc9e5163d593b954359f52
Author: Chris Rog <crog>

1200972: Fixed grammar issue with error message in the attach command

Comment 4 Rehana 2015-04-10 10:04:25 UTC
Retested on,

# subscription-manager version
server type: Red Hat Subscription Management
subscription management server: 0.9.48-1
subscription management rules: 5.15
subscription-manager: 1.14.3-1.el6
python-rhsm: 1.14.2-1.el6

# subscription-manager subscribe --pool=123 --servicelevel=foo
Error: The --servicelevel option cannot be used when specifying pools.

Observed that now proper error message is displayed when option "--servicelevel" used with --pool in subscribe/attach command

Marking Verified.
