Another user experienced a similar problem:

Just installed Fedora 22 via fedup, downloaded something in Firefox Nightly and clicked "open in folder" when download was finished.

Deleting .config/nautilus fixed this for me (I've just updated from Fedora 21)

Another user experienced a similar problem:

Copied the home directory from an F19 system (did restorecon as well).  Enabling desktop icons crashes.  Trying to run Gnome Classic session crashes the whole thing.

Removing the .config/nautilus/desktop-metadata file fixed it.  The icons are huge, but at least it doesn't crash.
