Description hlx98007 2015-03-30 22:51:01 UTC
Description of problem:
I have a Thinkpad Twist 230U laptop. After i did a yum update today, I cannot recover from Hibernate properly.

The programs I opened before hibernation are all gone after boot. The touchpad cannot be used at all (screen touch is working still though)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-3.19.2

How reproducible:
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot using kernel 3.19.2
2. Open any kind of program, e.g. Chrome
3. Hibernate
4. Turn on power
5. All gone

Actual results:
A state like a fresh restart, but touchpad is not working.

Expected results:
Programs should be still there, touchpad should be working

Additional info:
3.19.1 and previous versions don't have this problem

Have the same problem with Acer Aspire 5750G on a fully updated Fedora 21.
Kernel-3.19.1 works fine while Kernels 3.19.2 and 3.19.3 do a restart instead of resume.

Comment 2 Roy Rankin 2015-04-08 08:28:32 UTC
I also cannot hibernate on HP Probook 4330s as it does a full boot when powered back on. For me it worked in 3.18.9 but not in 3.19.[123]

Comment 3 Roy Rankin 2015-04-08 13:45:05 UTC
For me the workaround in Bug 1206912 seems to get hibernate working with 3.19.3 kernel

Comment 4 Martin 2015-04-28 17:55:00 UTC
I'm experiencing this bug on my Dell d630 laptop.

After upgrading to kernel 3.19.2 hibernate stopped working. Instead of resuming the computer does a fresh boot.

I can resume from hibernate when I select the previous kernel version (3.19.1) from grub after powering on (resuming from hibernation that is).

Comment 5 Fedora End Of Life 2015-11-04 12:28:44 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 21 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 21. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '21'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 21 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2015-12-02 10:41:22 UTC
Fedora 21 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-12-01. Fedora 21 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
