Description Allon Mureinik 2015-04-08 12:28:14 UTC
Description of problem:
As proposed in bug 1177863, The administration guide has several references to Live Storage Migration. It's noted that a disk can be moved between any two domains belonging to the same DC, and live migrated between two block domain or two file domains in the same DC.

This documented limitation was correct at the time the guide was written, but will cease be true in RHEV 3.6.0, as tracked by the RFE in bug 1058757.

The following sentences should be removed:

In 13.6.3. Overview of Live Storage Migration (http://docbuilder.usersys.redhat.com/22765/#Overview_of_Live_Storage_Migration), remove the following:
> You can live migrate disks only between two file-based domains (NFS, POSIX,
> and GlusterFS) or between two block-based domains (FCP and iSCSI).

In 13.6.4. Moving a Virtual Disk (http://docbuilder.usersys.redhat.com/22765/#Moving_a_Virtual_Machine_Hard_Disk_Between_Data_Domains), remove the following:

> If the virtual machine is shut down, you can move disks between any two
> storage domains in the same data center. If the virtual machine is running,
> you can move disks only between two file-based domains (NFS, POSIX, and
> GlusterFS) or between two block-based domains (FCP and iSCSI).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Should be fixed for 3.6.0 (NOT berforehand!)

Assigning to Lucy for review.

Lucy - this should be an easy one to get to, and touches on your own previous work on this feature in RHEV 3.5.

Verified the updates in the two topics.

Cheers,
Julie
